GETTING STARTED

First you want to obtain an altar. This may be an old dresser, or you may like to build things, and may wish to build it yourself. Either way, it is good to have storage space within it, and possibly a lock on it, to keep children and mundanes(refer to my link or magickal terms for the deffinition of any unfamiliar words)out. Next you want to obtain a variety of ritual tools. These are the sword, dagger, staff, wand, incense burner, candles of various colors, incenses, a wine chalice, a water bowl, a gem bowl, a pentacle disk, a dragon pentacle, a dragon mirror, and ritual clothing. I will have a link to the specific colors and uses of candles, and the specific types of incenses. Some of these things are very expensive, so you can make due with the things you have. THE ORDER OF A RITUAL cast the circle call the corners state your purpose raise power channel power earth excess power cakes and wine act in accord

Enter The Mouth Of The Dragon
For hundreds of years mankind has been fascinated with Dragons and they have encompassed many Legends and Myths. However Dragons are far more than the embodiment of these Legends. Dragons are as real as we are but live on the Astral plane which coexists and intersects with our own plane of existence.
Dragons have control of deeper elemental energies than what is normally felt by us mortals. Once befriended Dragons make excellent protectors and powerful fellow magicians. When you begin Dancing with Dragons not only will you be able to make contact with these ancient astral powers but you will be able to work with them to protect your house...tap into a vast reserve of energy....gaze into the future....and aid all of your magickal workings.
Now you will want to learn as much as possible about Dragons and their habits in order to make contact them, it is highly recommended that you pick up a copy of D. J. Conway's "Dancing with Dragons" this book is highly informative and packed with information on appropiate music, dance and tools to use in your rituals when you practice Dragon Magick. I have incorporated some of this information in my Dragon Book of Magick here on the Net but by no means is this work meant to be the sole basis of your ritual workings but is to serve only as a stepping stone.
When early mapmakers drew maps of the known World they drew Dragons to denote unexplored and unknown territory. Some ventured no further than what was known, while others looked upon a venture into the territory of Dragons as an opportunity for amazing discoveries.
It is my sincere hope that my Dragon Book of Magick serves as a doorway between realms and I invite you to Dance with the Dragons and open yourself to energies beyond this realm and lift all areas of your life into a new powerful plane of existence.

What is Dragon Magick?
Dragon Magick is the calling upon of Dragons to aid you and become co-magicians with you.Dragon Magick can be practiced on its own or along with other Magickal Traditions.Dragon Magick is not for everyone. Those who practice Dragon Magick must be self-disciplined seekers who realize the potential dangers but dares to communicate with and befriend this vast astral power of the ages.It is for the Magician who is serious about changing his/her life and the living space around them.
When a Magician dances with Dragons ,as the practice of Dragon Magick is called,he/she discovers an intensity of power never before tapped. When tapped into this intensity is exhiliarating and a Spiritual high. When you are befriended by Dragons as Co-magicians they can empower your rituals no matter what tradition you practice far beyond what you have normally encountered.Their grasp of ancient knowledge is deep and profound. Their ability to see through layers of time both present and past as well as the future is astounding and quite accurate if they choose to reveal what they see to you.As protectors during rituals or everyday life there are no equals. If you are chosen by Dragons under their tutelage you will have the opportunity of constantly learning and evolving your knowledge and magickal ability.
If you take the time to forge a friendship with Dragons they can become the best companions you would ever want.Although this companionship can seem to harsh and demanding it is always in your best interests.A lifelong dance with Dragons is never boring for it is a constant exploration of various types of energies and the uses in which these energies can be applied. Dancing with Dragons can be a joyful, daily experience and one that is eagerly sought after by all participants for the mutual sharing of energies during ritual as well as in life helps out both species in their evolution and spiritual growth. The more that Magicians seek out the companionship of Dragons, work with them, and earn their trust the more Dragons will be encouraged to once again have a closer , positive relationship with humans in general just like they did in olden times.
Just like the old maps that had signs posted "Here Be Dragons" denoting unexplored regions of our world,at the very edges of our mental and psychic realms are signs that read "Here Be Dragons".The Magicians who are true explorers of the unknown and seekers of knowledge will be challenged not frightened by these signs and forge on ahead in their search of knowledge. They will forge friendships and partnerships with these Great and Powerful Astral Beings, known as Dragons, that will lead to some of the greatest discoveries ever made.May that journey be one of continuing interest and growth!

Calling The Dragon
Reference Material: D. J. Conway's "Dancing With Dragons"
This ritual is for exactly what it states calling the Dragon or Dragons to project their presence with such clarity that there is no question of knowing that they are here. A greater reason for calling a Dragon into stronger presence is the stronger the auric vibrations of such a creature within the circle the stronger the ritual and power sent into your motivation for the ritual. When you use the Dragon call and feel the presence of one or more Dragons it is important that they are treated with respect. Take time to get acquainted with them before asking their help. Remember most Dragons are beneficial and helpful, but all Draconic temperaments are extremely sensitive so treat them with the greatest respect.
Ritual of Calling
Notes:Perform during bright noon or the waxing Moon for increasing magick, with the Full Moon being strongest; during evening hours or the waning Moon for decreasing magick, with the New Moon being the strongest. Use this ritual in conjunction with any spellworking. This ceremony is primarily used to summon the Dragon for a manifestation whether it be the rare physical type or, more likely the sharpening of the inner sight.
Supplies:Pentacle disk; Dragon pentacle; water chalice with a little fresh water in it; dish of salt; wine chalice; black (left) and white (right) altar candles; sword; wand; incense burner; appropiate incense; dragon's blood and mugwort; dragon mirror; gong or bell; staff; paper and pen to write down any messages.
Use the Basic Dragon Ritual up to the insertion point of necessary chants for specific Spellworkings. Hold the sword in power hand and staff in the other while standing facing the altar and tap the staff three times on the floor while holding the sword pointed at the Dragon Pentacle. Chant in tones that vibrate body:
Come Draconis! By Your All-consuming Breath,I summon you. (tap staff three times)By Your Piercing Gaze, I Summon You (tap staff three times)By Your Mighty Strength, I Summon You (tap staff three times)By Your Wisdom Ancient and Cunning, I Summon You (tap staff three times)By Your Magick Deep and Old, I Summon You (tap staff three times)Come, Draconis, To My Call!
Once done summoning the Dragons it will be possible to feel power being sent from all directions by the half-seen Dragons. Listen for any messages the dragons may have. The Dragons' presence can be felt by a sudden temperature change, prickly feeling between the shoulder blades, unusual currents of air, and other phenomena. If the Dragons are pleased with the Magician they often sound a deep vibrating rumble, almost like a Giant Cat's Purr.

Choosing A Familiar
In all forms of Magick there is what is known as a Familiar
Modern definition is :
A spirit often embodied in an animal and held to attend and serve or guard a person.
Magickal Definition:
A spirit / entity /animal that you have spiritual /psychic connection with. Familiars can also be entities who are created to protect home from the Astral.

Dragon Magick is no different. In Dragon Magick your familiar can be a number of different Dragons or just one. Sometimes even you may be chosen by the Dragon or Dragons that want to be your Familiar. Also if you are a Practitioner of another Tradition of Magick you may already have a Familiar so by all means the Practice of Dragon Magick does not call for you to get rid of your Familiar but calls for your familiars to work together. For those of you who do not have a Familiar I am going to give you a sample ritual to use for calling a familiar but by no means is this the only one there is. As with everything in my Dragon Book of Magick this is only to be used as a stepping stone. May your Journey be fruitful and full of knowledge.
Ritual
Draw a picture of one of your personal dream images ( alot of times during dreams we see animals or entities oft times these are to be our familiars ). Pay attention to color and shape choices. When you are done, take four white candles, place one at each corner of the drawing and proceed to light them. After doing so repeat the following three times:
I accept the symbols of my familiar self. I accept the Path of Initiation to which they lead.

Dragon Blessing
Reference Material: D. J. Conway's "Dancing With Dragons"
This is the ritual I use for blessing and consecrating my ritual tools. It is best performed on the Night of the Full moon or at Bright Moon although it can be performed at any time that I wish my Dragon co-magicians to add their power and blessing to any other tools I might acquire.I also use this ritual to repurify my tools .For this ritual I find these tools most useful:
Dragon Pentacle,Pentacle Disk,Incense Burner, Wine Chalice,Water Chalice,Salt Dish,Sword and Wand.
Note:If a item is missing remember it is possible to use regular household items until other items are acquired. It is important that I believe that these items are extensions of my Magick and I know that my Dragon Companions understand and will help me acquire those items that befit me.If I don't have wine for my ritual I substitute apple cider, grape juice, fruit juice or even soda for this ritual or even any other rituals for that matter.
Setting up my ritual area:
I place my altar in the center of my ritual area so that I can face East. I light my two altar candles { Black on the left and White on the right to balance the Energies } .I play soft music in the background usually only instrumental, but other kinds depending on what draws me.The playing of soft music in the background serves to purposes:
Sets Mood
Masks Minor Noise
Now that my ritual area is set up I am ready to cast my circle, before doing so I make sure I have everything that I need for the Ritual I am about to perform because it is highly recommended that once my circle is cast I do not leave it.I also realize and so do my Dragons that there are times that I must leave the Cast Circle .At times like these I create a doorway in my circle so that I can leave it without having to cast the circle again.I create this doorway in the circle by going to the boundary of the circle and with the forefinger of my power hand I start a point on the ground to the left and bring it up a little taller than I am andextend it to the right just so I can step through .I complete the door by bringing my finger down to the right all the way to the ground.I then am able to step through the Doorway .Once through the Doorway I turn around and follow the same procedure I did to open it but this time I close the Door.To reenter the circle I create and open another door and go through it and close it again. While doing this I remember that I am dealing with mischievous creatures in this form of Magick . Dragon Power is totally different and unpredictable .If I am frivolous and half-hearted in my practice of Dragon Magick it can even be dangerous.
Casting my circle:
I begin by going to the East and with the forefinger of my power hand I draw my magickal circle on the ground by pointing to the ground and picturing a great flame coming from it .With that flame I move clockwise around my ritual area and end by overlapping in the East. While drawing the circle I say:
By Dragon Power,This Circle Is Sealed
Ritual of Blessing:
Return to altar and place a small amount of Frankincense on the burning charcoal in the incense burner, point forefinger to burner and say:
By Dragon Power ,I Call You Purified
Lift up the burner and carry it around the edge of cast Circle clockwise beginning and ending in the East. Return burner to the altar and slowly pass the Pentacle Disk through the incense smoke and say:
Element of Spirit,By Dragon Power, I Call You Purified
Lay the Pentacle Disk upon altar and place Salt Dish upon it. With forefinger of power hand circle the dish three times clockwise and say:
Out Of The Darkness Of Earth And Sea Comes The Blessed Salt, Be
